Girl Power

Posted under friendship 2 Comments

Okay, so maybe it’s not really “girl power,” but there is something rejuvenating about spending time with a good friend.  It’s like food for the soul in many ways.

I was fortunate enough to have two such rejuvenating “girl power” moments over the past few weeks. The first was with a fellow writing buddy. We met for breakfast and gabbed over scrambled eggs and wheat toast. When it was time to go, we opted to continue our time in a bookstore across the street. For close to an hour we wandered the aisles talking about covers and authors and placement (I thought I’d died and gone to heaven…seriously). It was won-der-ful, absolutely wonderful.

The second moment came with a different friend (one I met through my eldest daughter when our girls were in kindergarten eight years ago) and was equally great. The two of us met over a treat in Panera and then went out for a pizza dinner where we talked even more (yes…dessert before dinner…isn’t that the way it’s supposed to be done?).

On both occasions I felt as if I could conquer the world when we were done, sparked by simply having some good old fashioned girl time.

Do you find that to be true in your life? What’s some recent (or favorite) girl bonding time you’ve had?
