Hobby, Passion…It’s All The Same
When I was little, I considered writing a “hobby”. It was something I enjoyed doing.
As I got older, my hobby turned into a passion…one I wanted to pursue as a career. But no matter what I called it, writing was something that made me happy.
Today, I still love writing. Probably even more than ever. And since I’m focusing the bulk of my time/energy on it these days, I’m not sure it qualifies as a true “hobby” any longer… Except for the fact that a) I love it, b) I love to talk about it, c) I love to be around others who write, and d) I dream about it.
Which keeps the word “hobby” from disappearing into the stratosphere, doesn’t it?
So what was a childhood hobby of yours? What’s your hobby now? And what (if anything) does it bring to your life?

Thank you, Diana!!!!!!!! I love to hear that kind of feedback. I’ve gotten attached to the characters, too! Which is a good thing with 5 more books in this series in the immediate future.
Thank you!

Well, you already know I loved Sew Deadly. Can’t wait for Death Threads!
My hobby as a kid, hmmm. I’m the I’ll try anything once kid. But my favorite thing to do was learn (Nerd Alert!!). I’d take my older siblings books and try to learn the subject. I had a math book that I just kept plugging away at trying to learn.
Seriously, I needed a life.

I think that’s sweet, Lynn. And now???? Do you still have a hobby?

I’m still a try anything once girl. Quilting, cross stitch, today I even relearned how to cast on for knitting because I found some very soft, fluffly yarn to make on of those new boa scarfs but I realize now why it was on sale, it’s a bear to work with.
I guess I don’t consider my writing a hobby. It just is. Maybe because I’m working to be published? Or maybe because I’m in the learning geek mode, it is just a passion.

I just discovered your walk and plan to get your sew deadly book this afternoon.
I’m sure I had a hobby when I was smaller – most likely reading but right now I quilt for relaxation. I started quilting when I got laid off and it’s been 5 years and I love that I can get my creative juices flowing and be surprised at the finished product.

Lynn, I want a picture of the scarf when you finish it!
Dru, I think that’s what I like about a hobby, too. It gets your creative juices flowing… In all areas. Thanks for stopping by! And I hope you like the book.
