Did You Know…
Did you know my favorite TV show as a little girl was Little House on the Prairie?
Did you know I used to dislike candy so much that when I went trick or treating I’d simply say “no thank you” and move onto the next house?
Did you know I got to speak to my favorite author–Mary Higgins Clark–on the telephone one day?
Did you know that I love the smell of lilacs?
Did you know I was part of a study in 1979 to see if appendicitis could be contagious (this after eight kids linked to the same classroom fell prey to this within two weeks)?
Did you know that I’d be perfectly content eating nothing but meat, potatoes, and chocolate for the rest of my life?
Did you know that I write romances, too (my first one, Kayla’s Daddy, debuts this month under the name Laura Bradford)?
Did you know I love the smell of a just-used eraser?
Did you know the faint scar above my right eye is the result of a run-in with a door knob when I was five?
Did you know yellow is my favorite color?
Now it’s your turn. Tell us some neat-to-know things about you…

Did you know I have a scar over my right eye from a car crash when I was in junior high? We had been studying the eye in science so I thought the blood running down my face was from the loss of my eye.
I love lilacs but hesitate planting them because it signals a move in my life.
I loved Dark Shadows and ran from the bus to the house to catch the last thirty minutes.
I’ve met three country stars and have the pictures to prove it.
I took third in the Idaho State Women’s Cricket Championships one year.
I used to sing in my church’s Praise Team, play clarinet in the band (hi band geeks!) and marched colorguard for two year. (You should see me flip a flag…)

Did you know that I was on TV in a opening promo for the Daytime Emmy Award? I even had a line to speak.
Did you know that the aroma of flowers causes me to sneeze?
Did you know that I love going to see animated/children’s movie?
Did you know if it wasn’t for the Internet, I wouldn’t have as much fun as I’m having meeting friends, authors and traveling.

GREAT ones, Lynn! So who are the country stars? Inquiring minds want to know!
Dru…tell me about this opening promo. What was your line? And I concur wholeheartedly on your last one…me, too!

Did you know I also am a band geek? I played the clarinet until high school when I wanted to be ‘cooler’ and switched to trumpet — we won the Atlantic Coast Championships!
I (unfortunately) do not like most vegetables other than potatoes, corn and carrot cake….I do try to eat a few bites of salad but definitely not my favorite
I can catch coins off my elbow (Like Fonzie did on Happy Days) — my record is 22!
During a summer job I observed several surgeries from right in the ER–included a triple bypass where I was so close I could have touched the heart!
I owned my own business for 6 years doing fitness consulting and had 12 part time personal trainers working with me and my partner—quite a learning experience
My sister and I were celebrity escorts for the GLAAD media awards in NYC about 6 years ago, and we got to escort Phil Donahue and Marlo Thomas all evening!

22, huh, Nikki? Wow! I’m not sure I could do one! You sound like me with the veggies, though I’d pass on the carrot cake, too.

My brush with country greatness includes Tracy Lawrence, Dierks Bentley and Steve Holy.
I was thinking about high school a lot this last week when I did a three night marathon with the Lord of the Rings. Do all band geeks also support Middle Earth?

It was a crowd scene in front of the theater and when the camera came up the spot where I was, I had to shout “Look, there’s Susan Lucci” and we all turned to the side as if she was coming. We had to do several takes before everything was timed. It was great.

Any pictures of this brush with greatness, Lynn? Sounds awesome! Can’t answer the Middle Earth question as I didn’t play an instrument (a regret now).
Dru, LOL! Sounds like a hoot! I imagine you taped it on your VCR, yes?

I:
-Confused Bill Clinton
-Crawled through caves in three states
-Talked a coworker into jumping out of an airplane with me

Okay. Explain number one, Joe.
And remind me NEVER to ride in a plane with you. Ever.

Okay… let’s see -
Did you know that I had a quilt published in a quilting magazine?
Did you know that I played clarinet in symphonic band and saxophone in marching band?
Did you know that I’m a strong “A” personality and have little tolerance for ignorant people?
Did you know that I have one grandson (3 yr) and one on the way?
Did you know that I have met Sophia Loren and Barbara Eden? And I also met John Cena before he was “can you see me now” famous?
I can’t think of anything else… right now.

And did you know that if I could adopt all the abused children, I gladly would!
January 8th, 2010 at 8:55 pm
Where did you meet Sophia Loren and Barbara Eden, Brenda? And tell us more about the quilt…
And finally, as for the abused kids…I wish you could!
January 8th, 2010 at 9:31 pm
I met Sophia and Barbara when I worked at Walt Disney World back in the day when I graduated from high school.
As for the quilt… back in “the day” when AOL first started up I was in an online chat group for quilters. In this group was several national quilters and an editor of a quilt magazine. In the meantime I moved from FL to GA while working on the quilt. After I moved up here I became a member of the same quilt guild as the editor of a quilt magazine. When we met at a quilt show I showed her the finished quilt and she took it from me that day and promised to send it back to me after she had it photographed. So that’s the story of the quilt.
Children are precious and I can’t stand to think about someone hurting one of God’s precious angels.

I’m curious what you did at WDW but also hesitant to know because I’m all about the magic at that place.
Very cool quilt story. I bet that had to be neat to see in the magazine!
