It’s My Party and I’ll Cry if I Want To
Filed in Dreamer Mondays
As of yesterday, I’m officially a year older. And while that was an exciting fact to boast during childhood, it’s not always one you care to tout when you hit my age.
But maybe…if we celebrated our own birthdays in the way we did as kids…maybe, just maybe the big day wouldn’t be so bad.
So let’s pretend, for just a moment, you could plan your own birthday. You can do what you want, go where you want, eat what you want, spend it with whomever you want…
What would you do?

I’d love to go bowling with a group. Have cake and ice cream. And get a gift certificate for a spa day as well as a book store gift card. And then dinner out at a place with great!!! food. Not too much to ask…

I like to eat at a nice Italian restaurant with a few friends. Then go to the hotel room we’re spending the night in and have cake and ice cream and watch movies without a care in the world. The perfect gifts to unwrap will be a B&N gift card and gift card to use at the quilt shop.

Lynn, Ooooh a spa day! Wow. That sounds like heaven!
Dru, love the hotel/movies all night idea!!! Fun! And I’m with both of you on the bookstore gift card. One of the gifts I got was some money…which I’ve already earmarked for books!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YAY!

Happy (belated) Birthday! I hope you had some fun on your day. I’d like a sunny, warm day, a fun activity (it can vary and I’m not terribly picky), and then cake and ice cream.

Hi Kate! A sunny, warm day? Wow. That would be awesome! My fingers are like ice cubes right now while typing this!
I had a Boston Creme Pie for my cake (YUMMY).

MMmmmmm Boston Creme Pie sounds awesome! I have to admit that I give in to some of my perfect ideas……the tradition for my birthday dinner (or one of them) is to go to Lucatelli’s — a mom and pop old Italian restaurant with homemade gnocchi–my favorite! I sit at the table in the bar area, always ask for Carmen to be our waiter, and generally run into the older Italian crew that frequent the place
. Any kind of a fun 3 day weekend would always be on the list—beach, skiing with down time to read a good book (after buying it with a B&N gift card!) LOL

Birthdays are a big deal around here. We have three that fall inside two weeks (mine included), and we have one get-together to cover ‘em all. So come end of September or beginning of October, there’s a gaggle of us at my folks’ place. We eat, talk, open gifts, act silly.
I wouldn’t change a thing.

Traditions are great, Nikki!! They make the occasions in our life more special, don’t they?
“I wouldn’t change a thing–” sounds like you’ve got it down pat, Joe.

Since I have a birthday coming up at the end of the month…let me just think about this for a minute…. hmmm…. I love hot fudge brownie sundaes… with whip cream…. no cherries, please… As to how to spend the day… anything with the family, as long as I’m not cooking or cleaning!
Dru… a gift card to a quilt shop… where is your favorite quilt shop?
