I remember going through a stage where I though Ad Libs (the little books where you filled in the blanks with nouns, verbs, adjectives) were the coolest thing. They kept me busy for hours, sending me in pursuit of semi-willing participants who didn’t mind tossing a few good words in my direction.
Fortunately for all of you, I’ve moved on. Sort of.
These days I’m not as into silly little words as I am into hearing stories and getting to know people better. Sooooo, I’m going to borrow the fill-in-the-blank idea from Ad Libs and give it a little twist.

1) When I was a little girl/boy, my favorite thing to do after school was watch television.
2) The Brady Bunch episode I liked best was when Jan was complaining, Marsha, Marsha, Marsha…..
3) The one thing I vowed I’d never tolerate from the opposite gender was/is treating me less than because I was a girl.
4) My favorite teacher ever was Mrs. Higgins – home ec.
5) My favorite must-have ice cream topping is chocolate syrup.
6) The one thing that makes my blood pressure boil is rudeness.
7) My favorite place to people watch is the bar. Second driving to work. Why was the Mustang driver crying?

1) When I was a little girl/boy, my favorite thing to do after school was watch TV (thanks, Lynn for going first, I don’t feel like such a couch potato now).
2) The Brady Bunch episode I liked best was the one where they had a singing group and Bobby’s voice started changing.
3) The one thing I vowed I’d never tolerate from the opposite gender was/is breaking up with me. I was never the guy that kept calling and begging “cant’ we get back together?” Dump me once, you’re gone, so sorry.
4) My favorite teacher ever was the one I got high with at the Billy Joel concert.
5) My favorite must-have ice cream topping is hot fudge.
6) The one thing that makes my blood pressure boil is: I have to pick just one?
7) My favorite place to people watch is the mall.
9) The first pair of shoes I *remember* from my childhood were the cowboy boot my Aunt Elgie used to get me every Christmas.
10) If I could compete in one Olympic area it would be fencing. Saber in particular. I took it as a phys ed requirement in college and had a blast.

LOL! LOVE these answers so far, Dusty and Lynn. And Dusty, why oh why did I read your # 9 and instantly think of the kid in the bunny suit on A Christmas Story? LOL!
Now, turnabout is fair play, right?
1) When I was a little girl/boy, my favorite thing to do after school was play kickball in the culdesac (which is odd because I’m not terribly athletic).
2) I’m with Dusty on this one….The Brady Bunch episode I liked best was the one where they had a singing group and Bobby’s voice started changing.
3) The one thing I vowed I’d never tolerate from the opposite gender was/is being cursed at. For any reason.
4) My favorite teacher ever was Mr. Filo. He made history rock! Oh…and my least favorite??? That would be my kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Rickels. I brought my prized baby doll to school one day and she told me she was dirty. Nice, huh?
5) My favorite must-have ice cream topping is butterscotch sauce!
6) The one thing that makes my blood pressure boil is rudeness. And it comes in so many forms.
7) My favorite place to people watch is the airport in Miami. Oh. My. Gosh!
The name of my very first pet was Goldie and his tankmate, Silver. I fed them salt by mistake. Bye bye, fish.
9) The first pair of shoes I *remember* from my childhood were the Buster Brown patent leather white party shoes with the colorful swirl on the toes which I promptly got stuck in the door jam of the car and ruined with grease before we ever left the store parking lot.
10) If I could compete in one Olympic area it would be swimming, I think.

2) The Brady Bunch episode I liked best was …I know I watched it, but I can’t remember a specific show. Now ask me about The Partridge Family – I had lots of favorite episodes!.
3) The one thing I vowed I’d never tolerate from the opposite gender was/is violence.
4) My favorite teacher ever was Mr. Meadows – honors history. But I really liked a lot of my other history/social studies teachers, too.
5) My favorite must-have ice cream topping is cinnamon sugar (on vanilla ice cream).
6) The one thing that makes my blood pressure boil is cruelty.
7) My favorite place to people watch is… uh, I’m not much of a people watcher. I don’t like people watching me, and I’m not too comfortable watching others.
The name of my very first pet was Spunky and he was a cat.
9) The first pair of shoes I *remember* from my childhood were a pair of shiny white go-go boots I asked my Dad to buy me at a neighbor’s garage sale. They only fit me for about 3 months, but, hey, they were go-go boots!

1) When I was a little girl/boy, my favorite thing to do after school was watch M*A*S*H reruns and smuggle Little Debbies from the kitchen.
2) The Brady Bunch episode I liked best was the one where Greg, Peter and Bobby are transported through the Guardian of Forever to pre-WWII America and meet Edith Keeler. That was Brady Bunch, right?
3) The one thing I vowed I’d never tolerate from the opposite gender was/is indifference. Being loved or loathed is so much easier on the ego than being treated like patio furniture.
4) My favorite teacher ever was: Dumbledore.
5) My favorite must-have ice cream topping is: a spoon. I take it straight, with coffee on the side.
6) The one thing that makes my blood pressure boil is when people carelessly hurt other people, through ignorance or intent.
7) My favorite place to people watch is my kids’ sporting events, where a lifetime of social indoctrination slips away, and people with college degrees go stark raving bonkers and scream at strangers, and the children of strangers, and their own children. All manner of strange pack behavior and alpha jockeying goin’ on there. Great place to teach your kids what not to do, and figure out who not to carpool with.
I often wish I had him at the aforementioned sporting events.

10) If I could compete in one Olympic area it would be whitewater paddling. I interviewed a kid who chipped through Lake Michigan ice to practice. Plus, paddlers are down-to-Earth folks who support each other as they compete. Cold hands, warm hearts, wills of steel. Good company, that.

Fun one ELC!
1. When I was a little girl/boy, my favorite thing to do after school was: yep, going with TV….Batman & Robin 60′s version, then I Love Lucy.
2. The Brady Bunch episode I liked best was: tough one–definitely the singing one, maybe ‘She sells sea shells by the sea shore’
3. The one thing I vowed I’d never tolerate from the opposite gender was/is: another tough one — nothing really different based on gender (I played nice with the boys
4. My favorite teacher ever was: Kindergarten gym, Mr. Moore–he used to have us sing about Old Mr. Dunderback being ground up into sausage meat while we ran and jumped over a stick (the stick had a name too….). And yes, I still remember both verses!
5. My favorite must-have ice cream topping is: Cherry dip on soft ice cream twist
6. The one thing that makes my blood pressure boil is: last minute change in plans
7. My favorite place to people watch is: the gym is actually pretty entertaining at times
