That’s a Fact, Jack…

And it’s also a bit of a quiz, but I couldn’t resist the title.

For today’s Q & A type questions, I figured we’d look to the fridge…

And the cabinet…

And the car (the best place to hide a treat you don’t want the kids to find :)  )

Fact #1: Did you know that the shape of a pretzel was quite deliberate. When first made, the ropes of rolled dough were twisted upward to resemble hands on the chest in prayer? Pretty cool, huh?  pretzel-229

Fact #2: It’s no secret I am a Milk Dud fanatic. And, truth be told, that’s generally what my car stash consists of. But that’s not our fact. At least it’s not the main one. Do you know how Milk Duds got their name? Well, “milk” reflects the large amount of milk found in the product (so, see…they’re good for you :)  ). And the “duds” part came about during production. You see, the original idea was to have a perfectly round piece of candy. However, when the maker realized that was impossible, the word “duds” was used.

pizza

Fact #3: Did you know that on average, each person in the U.S. eats 23 pounds of pizza in a year?

Which leads me to the Q & A portion of today’s post… A Food Q & A.

1) What’s your all-time favorite Girl Scout cookie?

2) When you’re standing in front of the candy aisle in a store and you’re craving a treat, what do you generally grab for?

3) What’s your favorite kind of pizza?

4) What’s your go-to food for a pick-me-up?

5) If you could remove one particular food from the face of the earth, what would it be?

6) Any fun veggie stories from your childhood?

    1) What’s your all-time favorite Girl Scout cookie?
    - tagalongs. My wife and kids each get a box and label their own box each year. Stealing from the others leads to brawls!

    2) When you’re standing in front of the candy aisle in a store and you’re craving a treat, what do you generally grab for?
    - 3 Musketeer’s. Only because no one stocks Chuckles any more!

    3) What’s your favorite kind of pizza?
Given the poor choices in Atlanta, I go with a Papa John’s Chicken BBQ. If they have good pizza (NY or Chicago style, I’m not picky) Pepperoni.

    4) What’s your go-to food for a pick-me-up?
    Vanilla frosting ;-)

    5) If you could remove one particular food from the face of the earth, what would it be?
    Mushrooms.

    6) Any fun veggie stories from your childhood?
None that I can think of. Growing up in the 70’s you ate what they put in front of you since there wasn’t much else.

    1) What’s your all-time favorite Girl Scout cookie?
It used to be Thin Mints, but I really like the berry chip one they have right now.

    2) When you’re standing in front of the candy aisle in a store and you’re craving a treat, what do you generally grab for?
I’m also a plain Hershey’s milk chocolate bar girl. But KitKats are a very close second!

    3) What’s your favorite kind of pizza?
I try to be a veggie-head, but the best I can do is pepperoni and mushroom.

    4) What’s your go-to food for a pick-me-up?
It used to be a whole bag of Doritos, but I’ve been good with a couple granola bars for a while now.

    5) If you could remove one particular food from the face of the earth, what would it be?
Liver - it’s vile-looking and smells way worse than broccoli. :-)

    6) Any fun veggie stories from your childhood?
Even the dog under the table wouldn’t eat Brussel sprouts. But if Mom lays down with a headache right after dinner, there’s a good chance you can pick them up and toss them over the back fence before she notices!

    1) What’s your all-time favorite Girl Scout cookie? Thin mints. Which is probably an oxymoron.

    2) When you’re standing in front of the candy aisle in a store and you’re craving a treat, what do you generally grab for? Anything dark chocolate.

    3) What’s your favorite kind of pizza? Supreme. I sure miss the UNO’s we had in Fairview for a while. Pizza heaven.

    4) What’s your go-to food for a pick-me-up? Apples if we have ‘em, cereal if we don’t.

    5) If you could remove one particular food from the face of the earth, what would it be? Lima beans, evil be thy name.

    6) Any fun veggie stories from your childhood?

How about an “eat your greens” story:

From time to time, my grandmother would make a strange boiled salad. Which was odd, because we never had green stuff in the house. Turns out she was cutting pokeweed that grew wild at the edge of our woods and cooking it. The stuff is very popular in the South, or used to be. It’s also toxic. And the berry stains are nigh impossible to remove from white shoes.
