A Moment in Time
Filed in Dreamer Mondays
Here’s some great Dreamer Monday stuff from blog reader, Joe:
If you could share one moment from your life with everyone here–actually loan it to us, and let us live in your skin (we’ll give it back, promise)–what would it be, and why?

Taking my first European trip on a 10-day tour visiting small towns in France that ended in Paris. It was everything I dreamed about, Notre Dame, The Eiffel Tower, especially The Louvre where I finally got to see The Mona Lisa. I never dreamed that I would take a trip to France but when the opportunity came I took it and I’m so glad I did.

The first time I opened a box from my publisher and actually held a book that I’d created in my hand.

You’d be hiking up a mountain in Germany. It’s dusk, you’re tired, it’s wet, and you’re cold. In twenty seconds you’ll forget all that. You step off a trail, and out of a cloud. Below you are the lights of a village. And off to one side are the ruins of a castle, not 50 yards away.
The moment is a little breath of faith, and it tells you that magic is real, that there’s much of the world yet to see, and there are treasures still to be found.

Ok, so again what I wrote at home never took…
Probably operator error…
The moment is from one of my dart tournyments, back when I didn’t realized I wasn’t as good as I thought. I played women’s singles cricket. Won game one. Won match. Repeat. I kept winning. I didn’t think about who I was playing or what place I was at or even who I was beating. Although I do remember being glad I hit one woman early before she started playing really well.
I was totally in the moment. And in that moment I was good. Good enough to win that match at least. I kept winning until the field was down to four of us. And I was playing the other woman who hadn’t lost a game yet either.
I lost that match and the one following, ending up in third place. A very respectable showing for the state competition. I wonder if I had stayed in the moment and not thought about what winning meant, if I could have won.
Looking back, my best showings were when I stayed out of my head about the game and just played in the moment.

Wow, interesting stuff! Dru, it’s funny but I used to have NO interest in ever going to Paris. And then, about six months ago, that started to change. Now I know that’s one place I must see in my life. Thanks for reaffirming that!
Dusty, I got tingles at your moment. Because I know that one and it is amazing.
Joe, I could actually see that. Thank you!
Lynn, I believe you can do anything you want to do. You’ve got intelligence, talent, humor, compassion, etc. You could have beaten her. But maybe you needed that lesson to realize what you did!
And me? How about my most recent…from today, in fact.
I’m sitting at the counter working on my laptop. It’s a book I felt from the moment the first seed sprouted in my head. I’d written the proposal, written a chapter outline (only done when I write romances for some odd reason), sold the proposal, discovered the chapter outline notes had been lost during the course of moving (this after the book was bought), stressing over this book every step of the way…and then finally, today, I typed “The End.” I did it. Even though I think I doubted myself at times this go round.

I’m a day late, as usual. The moment I want to share happened this weekend. Michele Scott had asked me, as a favor, to copy edit her latest, “El Patron”. Sunday morning she called me, and during the conversation mentioned she had added my name in the book’s acknowledgements. For a nearly life-long mystery fan, this is NIRVANA. I got off the phone and nearly burst into tears of excitement.
