The Anatomy of a Dream
Filed in Dreamer Mondays
I’m going a much more literal route for today’s Dreamer Monday post.
Do you have a recurring dream (you know, like the one where you think you’re still in college and you realize that there’s one class you simply forgot to go to all semester long)?
Tell me it’s not just me…

It’s not. My stress dream is all about too many…too many puppies, too many kittens, just too many to keep safe. I also have this one house that has too many rooms as I wander down the hallways.
Maybe too many things on my mind?

Okay, I just looked up mine on this site: http://www.ivillage.co.uk/astrology/dreamdictionary and the notion of missing classes is most closely tired to missing appointments. And the reason we dream this? Perhaps a fear of missed opportunities or a fear that–because I’m so busy–I’m going to miss an important meeting one day.
Hmmmm….

I have this recurring dream where I didn’t close the door and I wake up before I can find out why this is important.

It’s a rare morning that I awake and remember a dream, but it did happen last week.
I was in an old lodge, cleaning a dark alcove by a stone chimney. I found a bat, dried and dead, caught in an old spider’s web. I took it out into the yard. When I looked at it again, it had changed into a metallic owl with pearlescent feathers that shone like an oil-slick on water.
End of dream.
That morning, my friend calls to say HE dreamt I was guiding him across his farm, pointing out and identifying birds. Lots of birds. He called, because when he left that morning, there was a pheasant in his yard.
I’ve no idea what it all means.
Maybe just that I need to change the furnace filter, and that my buddy has good bird habitat at his place.
Recurring dreams? Not so much. Odd themes or events that pop up time and again in strange places and patterns? Yes and yes and yes.

I haven’t had one in a long time, but as a kid I remember having one where I was in my backyard, and I could hear really heavy pounding footsteps — and there was something that made me think of a lumberjack type person….but the weird part was that there was also music or some kind of connection to a music box. You know, the little jewelry box that opens and there’s a ballerina spinning with music?
Very strange and scary!
Maybe something to do with contradictions??

I dream almost every night. Most mornings I can remember them. I keep having dreams about an old friend that I haven’t seen for about ten years. She was having some mental issues and still is from what I hear. I miss her after all of these years, so I guess it’s no surprise that I’ve been dreaming about her. In the dreams she always lives with us and I’m taking care of her. Last night was a weird one…I was planting our vegetable garden and taking care of her. I guee it’s time to send her a FB message to let her know I still care.

Wow. Very interesting dreams, everyone! The footsteps and the music box are interesting…perhaps there’s a book there one day, Nikki.
Sharon, I think you’re right. Track her down!
Dru, I wonder if you’re looking for something. Or maybe there’s still more to be done in some area of your life.
Joe, VERY interesting coincidence with the dream you had and your friend’s. Wow!
