Q’s For You to A
It’s Friday and I’m driving back home after a series of book events that brought me to Ithaca, New York. And while the trip was great, I find myself thinking of all the things I’ve got to do now that it’s over–stuff like a deadline to meet for one book and revision work to tackle on another.
So, I’m feeling a wee bit stressed and hoping that the car ride home will give me the opportunity I need to focus on the work ahead (make my game plan, set my timeframe for accomplishing it, and select a carrot to dangle in front of my nose in order to get it all done).
Which brings me to today’s round of questions for all of you…
1) What’s your one sure-fire way to relieve stress?
2) What’s something you’re looking forward to in the next four weeks?
3) Is there something you once feared that you’ve since learned to overcome?
4) Do you have an all-time favorite quote?

1) What’s your one sure-fire way to relieve stress? Besides beer? Just kidding…planning. It makes you feel like you’re in control even if it is an illusion.
2) What’s something you’re looking forward to in the next four weeks? Flying out to Seattle to see my son
3) Is there something you once feared that you’ve since learned to overcome? Speaking my mind and not worrying it will affect the relationship. That sounds bad but I’m so good at taking care of you at the expense of me. So saying hard things was, well, hard.
4) Do you have an all-time favorite quote? Just one?
“Inspiration usually comes during work, rather than before it.”
Madeleine L’Engle

What’s your one sure-fire way to relieve stress?
eat, hence the weight issue. Also I quilt or do something creative to relax
2) What’s something you’re looking forward to in the next four weeks?
Attending my first Malice convention
3) Is there something you once feared that you’ve since learned to overcome?
My deep fear of water. I still won’t go on in or near the beach or pool, but now I feel safe on a cruise ship.
4) Do you have an all-time favorite quote?
Don’t put off tomorrow what you can do today.

1) What’s your one sure-fire way to relieve stress? A long run on a hard road. Or maybe it’s a hard run on a long road. Either way, works for me.
2) What’s something you’re looking forward to in the next four weeks? One, my daughter’s first track meet, in which we’ll see what a long, lean stride and a rock-solid heart can do when pushed by a competitive 13-year-old. And two, my anniversary.
3) Is there something you once feared that you’ve since learned to overcome?
That I’ll be outbid for that Toshiba mini NB305 I’ve been watching on ebay all week. I’ve come to peace with this.
Also, jello with fruit in it. All those clashing textures and densities…and the ready analogies to the human body with organs bobbing about…okay, maybe that one’s still an issue.
4) Do you have an all-time favorite quote?
“Where reason fails, force prevails.” I usually mutter this one about thirty seconds before I exchange a wrench for a hammer, and thirty minutes before I’m at Wal-Mart buying a replacement for the part I just broke.
Or maybe: “I once shot an elephant in my pajamas, how he got in my pajamas I’ll never know.” – Groucho Marx.

LOL, Joe! LOL!
Okay, here I go (I’m officially home now)
1) My one sure-fire way to relieve stress…going for a drive with the music blaring. And preferably with the sunroof open.
2) Something I’m looking forward to in the next four weeks? Being done with deadlines (for a little while).
3) Something I’ve once feared but learned to overcome: Talking in front of large groups.
4) A quote: “Every achiever that I have ever met says, ‘my life turned around when I began to believe in me’.” – Dr. Robert Schuller

1) What’s your one sure-fire way to relieve stress? I don’t have a sure-fire one, but usually music.
2) What’s something you’re looking forward to in the next four weeks? Book signing with Heather Webber, Denise Swanson, Marcia Talley, and Sara Rosett. And all the April new book releases!
3) Is there something you once feared that you’ve since learned to overcome? open flame
4) Do you have an all-time favorite quote? “Guns aren’t lawful, nooses give. Gas smells awful, you might as well live.” Dorothy Parker

Shel, sorry I won’t be able to meet you during the Diva Tour…simply too much traveling for me during April and May for me to have gone along this time. But hopefully Printer’s Row…

Elizabeth, I’m on for Printer’s Row as far as I know right this second (you know what they say about best laid plans…) Looking forward to it, and to meeting you!

Hi,
It was great meeting you in Ithaca. Everyone enjoyed your visit. The one thing I never thought I would do was belong to a gym, work with a trainer like Nikki, and actually workout. I’ve always enjoyed the water but using exercise machines was scary.
