Let the Flapping Begin

Well, the countdown has begun. DEATH THREADS launches nationwide in just two weeks…

Which means the pre-launch crazies have begun. There’s booksignings to set up, mailing labels to type/print, postcards to get out, promotional material to send, guest blogs to write, travel, and, of course, nerves.

Nerves?

Yup. Nerves. Will this book sell as well as the first (pre-order numbers are looking really good)? Will I add to my fan base? Will I get everything done? Will my signings go well? And the list goes on…

I remember these same worries from last summer when SEW DEADLY hit the shelves for the first time and I was faced with the reality of  just how many books were actually out there (I simply don’t know that many people).  I mean, it’s great to realize a dream but it’s also terrifying to think you might fall on your face in such a big way.

Fortunately, those worries proved to be wrong within a matter of days and I was able to sit back and enjoy the ride. Yet, here I am again…with the butterflies starting to flap their wings in my stomach once again.

I guess it’s life.

So tell me, what gets your butterflies flapping?

Here’s a picture of fellow author, Bente Gallagher, and me at the Southern Kentucky Book Festival this past weekend! We had a great time finally getting to  meet face-to-face and chatting about all things writing.

If you’ve not read her Do It Yourself Home Renovations Mystery Series, you’re in for a treat!

Doing something new… sending my babies, I mean my work out in the world … Flying…really just the take off and landing, so think good thoughts for me on Friday and again on Monday as I head to the left coast.

Great blog, Death Threads will be great. I’m so looking forward to reading it. I didn’t see any comments about food in today’s blog though….

You’ll do great this weekend, Lynn. Just be prepared for the pilots to look younger than you remember.

And LOL on the food. LOL! The only food on my mind lately is JUNK food and I figured I’ve already blogged on that…several times.

Cool cover, awesome story, killer writer–Death Threads will rock the shops.

Last year was the getting-to-know-you book. Readers fell in love with the ladies of Sweet Briar, and the lady who created them. This year they’ll be back for more.

    And they’ll bring friends.

My butterflies? Stepping out of a perfectly good airplane while it was a mile high stirred them up a bit. Every pop fly to right field and at-bat when my daughter plays shakes them out of a doze. And then of course, there’s the big one: Spotting a jell-o dessert into which a hapless family of fruit has wandered and become trapped. What an awful end. A slow, smothering, La Brea Tar Pit moment for pineapple if ever there was one. *shudder*

Awww, Joe, thanks. Let’s hope you’re right.

As for your butterfly inducers…the last one made me laugh out loud. Thanks for that!

Oh, Joe, you spoiled child… apparently you’ve never had the pleasure of an Idaho favorite… green jello with a can of mixed veggies trapped. Pinapple is tame compared to that… No wonder I’ve never liked lima beans.

Thanks Dru… the last time I flew the plane’s alarm went off just after take off and we stopped in mid air (or it felt like it) while they determined what to do. We went back to the airport we’d just left. The pilot announce we might see a few emergency vehicles. Well, the entire Portland OR fire department was on hand to watch us land or crash… I think a few were hoping for the crash…
