Thinking Caps a Plus

For today’s Bits & Pieces, I’ve opted to go ultra creative.  So play along, okay?

1) If you had to describe yourself as  a piece of footwear, what would you choose and why?

2) If it would be possible to survive on just one food, what would you choose?

3) If you could climb on stage with one band (past or present), what band would it be and why?

4) What do you think is the ultimate age to be and why?

5) If you could safely resurrect one fashion from the past, what would it be?

I can’t wait to read your answers!

~Elizabeth

    1. I’m short, cute, and round, but practical. So a Kitten-heeled pump would be me as footwear.

    2. Steak. You can take the girl out of Texas…

    3. Kirkland – they’re a local pop band, and I know most of the members, so I wouldn’t be in danger of melting into a puddle of fangirl. Plus Sarah would let me sing a duet with her.

    4. I don’t think I’ve gotten there yet. I’m enjoying my 40′s, though.

    5. Can I get rid of one, instead? I loathe low-rise jeans, and that’s practically all I can find. Okay, okay, back on track…Those long straight tank style sundresses that were so popular about six or seven years ago. I loved those things, they’re super comfortable and cool for summer. (and you can wear them with Kitten-heel pumps…*grin*)

    1) If you had to describe yourself as a piece of footwear, what would you choose and why? Flip flops. Practical and casual. Or knee high black cool boots with heels I’d love to wear but can’t.

    2) If it would be possible to survive on just one food, what would you choose?
    Mashed potatoes.

    3) If you could climb on stage with one band (past or present), what band would it be and why? Kid Rock. Scruffy, sexy, and when he sings country, I die.

    4) What do you think is the ultimate age to be and why? I think somewhere in the 40′s. You know how to play the game, you don’t really care what others think and you, finally, have your priorities right. Now if my body would just play along.

    5) If you could safely resurrect one fashion from the past, what would it be?
Jean, so long they drag and after a few months ravel at the bottom. And Shel, check out the country stores for normal jeans. They might not be the most fashion forward, but at least they don’t have apples on the butt. (Next they will have a jean that has a bullseye on your tummy.

    1) If you had to describe yourself as a piece of footwear, what would you choose and why?

An old work boot. ‘Cause I’m feeling a mite scuffed up and worn out.

    2) If it would be possible to survive on just one food, what would you choose?

    Lobster.

    3) If you could climb on stage with one band (past or present), what band would it be and why?

The E Street Band. Tight, versatile, and they flat out rock.

    4) What do you think is the ultimate age to be and why?

Old enough to know better and young enough not to care.

    5) If you could safely resurrect one fashion from the past, what would it be?

    Sword canes.

    Love these! Here’s mine…

    1) I’d go flip flop, too. Simple, unobtrusive, plain with maybe a hint of sparkle.

    2) I think I’d go with Shel’s…and I’m not from Texas. I’m just a meat girl.

    3) I’ve been trying to decide who’d I choose. I wouldn’t play an instrument…I’d just want to be a dancer. I’ll divulge my band later, after I figure out which one I’d fit with best (can’t be dancing to a non-dancing group).

    4) I’d say 5…learning to read, being oblivious to cruelty, playing all day…

    5) I was a fan of the jeans with the holes in the knee (because you wore them out). But I’m thinking I can pull that off at 42. *sigh*

    1. Footwear – Hiking boots. So I’m not sitting behind a desk all day.

    2. Food – Pizza

    3. Band – Either the Beatles or Led Zeppelin

    4. Ultimate Age – 25 (old enough to do anything, young enough to be stupid at times)

    5. Fashion – I like JD’s answer, but I’d bring back bleached, torn jeans. For women of course.

Shoe: flip flops for sure, then when it’s cold my Croc wooly mammoths
    Food: Popcorn
Age: 40s have been ok, not dreading 50s yet!
On Stage: Dan Fogleberg (sp?) to just mellow out
Piece of clothing: ragged jeans, old and comfy, and a comfy sweatshirt

    1) Footwear? Probably those obnoxious beach shoes that cling to your feet like slippers. Because they’re spare and not too pretty, but you can’t wear ‘em out and they’ll take you just about anywhere.

    2) If it would be possible to survive on just one food, what would you choose? UNO’s supreme pizza, Chicago style. I miss our UNO’s. *sigh*

    3) If you could climb on stage with one band (past or present), what band would it be and why? Simon and Garfunkel. Their lyrics are poetry, and the music and harmony rises and lifts and echoes in my head. That’s via CD. I can only imagine what it would be like on stage. I’d probably forget to breathe.

    4) What do you think is the ultimate age to be and why? 106 and a half. Because 105 isn’t quite long enough to finish my to-do list, and 107 is just being greedy.

    5) If you could safely resurrect one fashion from the past, what would it be? Suits and Fedoras. Think Casablanca and the Maltese Falcon, with bomber jackets at the back of the closet for those brisk casual days.

    1) Footwear – sneakers because they’re comfy

    2) Food – pasta

    3) Band – can’t do it

    4) Age – 50s, becuase I like the adventures I’m having now

    5) Fashion – I’m at a lost for this one

Lynn, I love “country” brand jeans, just because of that reason. When I lived in Texas I wore both Rockies and Lawmen brands. Both of them are nearly impossible to find up here in Illinois, though, and even those two brands have gone to mostly low-rise styles, from what I can find online. At the moment, the best fitting jeans I have found are St. John’s Bay in the petite sizes from JC Penney’s, but I still have to order them online. (Did I mention I’m short?). I’m lamenting that I can’t just go to the nearest store and pick up cheap jeans, LOL.

Dru, I almost fell out of my chair. You’re fifty???? I had no idea. You look so young in that FB picture.

And Joe, LOVE the image of the bomber jacket over the suit and Fedora.

Kellie, our footwear and clothes of choice match well!

    Chris, Pizza…yum!

And, um, as for my comment at the end…that was supposed to say I’m thinking I *can’t* pull the holey jeans off at 42.

Shel, I wonder if Rural King, TSC (Tractor Supply Company), or a similar shop would carry the rural jean brands?

    1) If you had to describe yourself as a piece of footwear, what would you choose and why?

my black leather Harley boots – because like me, they are warm, comfortable sport a little bit of bling and will go the distance

    2) If it would be possible to survive on just one food, what would you choose? Lasagna

    3) If you could climb on stage with one band (past or present), what band would it be and why?

I am totally a a loss for this question – probably because I CAN’T SING! I would love to meet the greats (in my mind) Peter Gabriel, Wynonna, Julie Andrews, Barbara Streisand, The Bird and the Bee and many others because I appreciate their art and their talents for various reasons. But I think know myself well enough that having me on stage would do them no justice! So I will stay off the stage and keep my rightful place in the audience!!

    4) What do you think is the ultimate age to be and why?

30 – by that time so many experiences have happened but there’s still the possible excitement of having a family, choosing a new career and plenty of time in the future for everything to play out.

    5) If you could safely resurrect one fashion from the past, what would it be?

I would like to see men sharply dressed – skip the falling jeans, (hate the ) baseball hats, etc – bring back the nice shirts, ties, suits, shiny shoes – especially when going out witha pretty gall
