Me and MHC…Can You Believe It?

Well, it happened. It finally  happened.

I, Elizabeth Lynn Casey/Laura Bradford, finally got to meet the woman who has sent me to a bookstore every March/April for the last 28 + years.  I own every single suspense novel she’s ever written and she–singlehandedly–propelled my desire to be a writer into the mystery/suspense arena.

And I have pictorial proof thanks to our very own Dru Ann (a regular visitor to this blog).

That’s me…with none other than Mary Higgins Clark at the Malice Domestic Msytery Conference in Arlington, Virginia this past weekend.

I stood (okay, maybe I really danced and hopped and squealed) on line with the book that made me want to be a mystery writer as opposed to the children’s writer I always assumed I’d be. It’s 27 years old, yellowed, and more than a little tattered from countless readings but it’s special.

And now that she’s signed it, it’s even more special.

So now it’s your turn. Is there anyone famous you’d like to meet?

Laura really did dance, hop and squealed and I think the lady behind her on line thought she was a bit crazy.

I met most of the famous authors that I read this past weekend and it was a blaslt.

I would love to meet Mary Tyler Moore.

Mary Tyler Moore was my role model growing up. She was the only person I knew (through my tv) that actually lived on her own, had a job that wasn’t a teacher/nurse/waitress, and seemed to be okay with being single. Meeting her would be pretty amazing.

I don’t have a lot of hero’s but I’d love to meet Elizabeth Edwards. She’s the face of calm in a storm of crap.

Dru, get used to excited Laura… she wears her heart on her sleeve, which is nice since you always know where you stand with her…. and I suspect MHC didn’t see her as a stalker (if there wasn’t police involvement, it’s all good.)

Evidently, MTM is turning the world on with her smile this morning. I heard “Love Is All Around” on Music Choice two hours ago. Probably hadn’t thought of that song in 25 years. Today it’s after me.

Okay, Universe, you have my attention. What’s the message?

Famous folks. Maybe Hans Zimmer. I’d like to spend a day following him around the studio, watching him marry music to imagery.

Laura, I love the photo. And I’m certain the meeting was memorable for MHC, because she wasn’t just signing a book. She was adding her signature to a wellspring she placed in a lovely young woman’s life.

    You’ll do the same someday.

Um, Joe? Yes, the Universe is trying to tell you something. Perhaps you need to wear a hat and throw it up in the air and see what happens?!?! :)

Dru, thanks for snapping that photo fo me!

Lynn, MHC was sooo gracious. And very funny, too. I would LOVE to have a career like hers.
