Under a Microscope

It’s been one of those weeks. Lots of Ups, a few downs, all part of life.

Ups:

*My launch excursion to Missouri was wonderful. Main Street Books rolled out the red carpet for the debut of DEATH THREADS, as did the McClay Road Branch of the St. Charles City-County Library District (their Readers & Stitchers group is awesome)! Main Street Books still has a few autographed copies left, so give them a shout if you’d like to order one!

*My oldest daughter earned a “tinted bronze pin” from the National Honor Society for her freshmen year of high school (shared by a proud mom).

*DEATH THREADS landed the # 5 spot on the B & N national mass market mystery list for its second week. And # 12 on Bookscan (a more encompassing list) for its first week. Woo-hoo!

*I came home from my launch party trip to find a box of books (A MOM FOR CALLIE–my July romance for the Harlequin American line). Can’t wait for this one to hit stores!  The excitement of seeing my work in book form never grows old.

*My launch party gave me an opportunity to see some old friends I haven’t seen in a while. Love that!

Downs:

*The internet decided to die at home, leaving me with a mountain of email and no real opportunity to blog yesterday–sorry, folks.

*A routine “skin check” resulted in a small section of my calf being biopsied yesterday. Everything else looked good, so I’m not terribly worried, but still…

*My launch weekend was so jam packed with activities that I didn’t get to have solo time with my two best writing buddies.

So that’s my week so far in a nutshell. How’s yours going?

~Elizabeth

I love your “Ups” and congrats on Death Threads placement on the book lists. Congrats to your daughter on the bronze pin.

    {{{Hugs}}} on biopsy.

This is the last week in my current work location. We are moving to the new company’s headquarters on the Upper East Side and I’m going to miss the Times Square area – more to do and see.

Up’s? I got back to my cozy last night. I’m on the home stretch and thinking way too much for draft one. I’m finally feeling better after two weeks of crap – Big YAY.

Down’s? Stressed over bills. Work is busy (could be an up as well – I hate boring days.)

Dru, I’d miss the Times Square area, too. I hope you find some great new things about the move, though!

Lynn, YAY on the cozy. You’re almost there!!!

So far every day at work has been a “Monday”. Upside is that today I’m cutting out early for a much needed perm!

UPS: You made my cat famous on your blog, LOL! Also, I got a perfect score on my last accounting assignment. (I don’t expect that to last…)

DOWNS: Work is drama-filled, my daughter got SHOT AT this weekend, and now we’re trying to talk her and her fiance into moving back up here, and I nearly had heart failure last night watching weather channel while a tornado menaced my hometown in Texas. (I’m in Illinois and so was reduced to shouting at the weather channel people and chewing my nails). Tough term at school, Accounting 2 and Database.

    Shel,

Your daughter is my prayers. And congrats on the accounting exam! I remember when my wife was taking her CPA. She passed all parts with high marks on the first go. I was so proud!

In the plus column: I got to see two friends who I seldom spend time with. I’m reminded of how much they mean to me when I see ‘em. Always a blessing, that.

In the minus column: Meh. Not worth covering. :)

Kellie, hope the perm comes out great!!!

Shel, Sinatra did his turn in the spotlight proud! And CONGRATS on the perfect score!!! Yay! As for your downs, I’m glad your daughter is okay and I hope you convince them to move home!

Joe, your plus sounds great!! :)

Thank you Joe, I really appreciate it. And thank you Elizabeth, Sinatra remains un-ego damaged. LOL…only because his ego is so big already!
