On the Horizon
Today’s question comes from Carrie in Worchester, Mass…
Q: What are you working on now?
A: With DEATH THREADS‘ launch just two days ago, I’m spending a good deal of my time on marketing–setting up signings, sending out notifications, attending events, writing guest blogs, etc.
Come next week, though, I need to juggle those same duties with actual writing once again. First up? A multi-book romance proposal (I write romance for Harlequin American under the name, Laura Bradford). A “proposal” of this nature consists of the first 2-3 chapters and a synopsis of the first book along with a synopsis for each of the books I’m pitching in my “proposed series.” Once that’s done, it’s onto a suspense novel that needs some time and attention before it’s time to start working on the 5th book in the Sewing Circle series (although the second just came out, I’ve already turned in book 4). Somewhere during that process I’ll hear back on the romance proposal and if I’m successful in pitching it, those books will need to be worked into the process.
Carrie, I hope that answers your question. If you’d like more information feel free to post a comment here or email me. As for everyone else…I’m ready for some new questions!

Me and MHC…Can You Believe It?
Well, it happened. It finally happened.
I, Elizabeth Lynn Casey/Laura Bradford, finally got to meet the woman who has sent me to a bookstore every March/April for the last 28 + years. I own every single suspense novel she’s ever written and she–singlehandedly–propelled my desire to be a writer into the mystery/suspense arena.
And I have pictorial proof thanks to our very own Dru Ann (a regular visitor to this blog).
That’s me…with none other than Mary Higgins Clark at the Malice Domestic Msytery Conference in Arlington, Virginia this past weekend.
I stood (okay, maybe I really danced and hopped and squealed) on line with the book that made me want to be a mystery writer as opposed to the children’s writer I always assumed I’d be. It’s 27 years old, yellowed, and more than a little tattered from countless readings but it’s special.
And now that she’s signed it, it’s even more special.
So now it’s your turn. Is there anyone famous you’d like to meet?

In the Wild
Okay, folks, we’ve got our first two sightings of DEATH THREADS in the wild.
Picture # 1 on the left was submitted by Lynn. She spotted these copies at the Borders in Brentwood, Missouri.
And picture # 2 on the right was submitted by Beth T. who spotted this
NICE display at the Barnes & Noble in St. Peters, Missouri!!
Lynn and Beth will each receive a Southern Sewing Circle Mystery t-shirt in the mail!!!!
So that’s two sightings down…eight more to go. Send your pictures to me at ElizabethLCasey@aol.com. The Launch Week Challenge expires May 10th or when a total of ten sightings have been sent in (which ever comes first)!!!

It’s Here, It’s Here
It’s official. DEATH THREADS–the second book in my Southern Sewing Circle Mystery Series–hits bookstores nationwide today. Woo-hoo!!!
And, if you don’t mind me saying…I adore this book. It’s funny, it’s unexpected, and the characters ran all over me with this one.
(Click on the cover for a better look)
Here’s what it says on the back cover:
Tori Sinclair is basking in the warmth of her new circle of friends. That is until local author Colby Calhoun reveals an unflattering secret about the town’s historic past. He soon finds that when you fray the stitches on the ladies’ cloak of southern hospitality, things are bound to fall apart…
Then Colby disappears, leaving a trail of blood but few clues to his possible murder. Tori looks to her sewing circle to help her cut through Sweet Briar’s tight weave of ancient feuds and alliances to find him. But when she sees a pattern of townsfolk’s age-old southern pride standing in the way of justice, she knows it’s time to unravel the mystery.
So there you have it. My book.
And remember, don’t forget my launch-week-challenge (scroll down two days for more details), there’s a possible t-shirt in it for you.
Oh, and one more thing… I’m celebrating today’s launch with some guest blogs. First up, I’m over at Meritorious Mysteries (www.mysteryheel.blogspot.com) talking about whether I’m like my protagonist or not. And then, at some point today, you can find me on Random Thoughts (www.skmayhew.blogspot.com) talking about writing. So come on over and say hi, okay?
