When my youngest turned 4, we took her to Disney World. Total surprise trip. She didn't have a clue until she was sitting in the parking lot of the airport. It was the best surprise ever! I'll never forget her smile. Or that of her big sister.

As for me...I guess the moment I knew the girls were on their way. Beyond that, I'm not sure I've ever had a big surprise. Maybe one day...

For my first FICTION sale, a good friend sent me a treasure box with a photo on the top of the box with a carnival scene...And since my story began at a carnival, it was perfect.

It's near my writing desk where I can see it and be inspired every day - both by the sale and by the love and support I got from my friend.

My godfather was being promoted to Captain in the Navy in a ceremony in San Diego. I told him I was unable to make it because of work when in fact I already had my plane ticket. I arrived while he was at work but went out siteseeing for the day with other relatives. When we arrived at his house later he was mixing chicken parts in bbq sauce to be grilled. When he saw me he screamed and hugged me leaving bbq hand prints on my white blouse!! It was well worth the stains!!

For my wife's 40th birthday I had her party almost a month before her actual birthday. She's a July baby so it is often hard to get all her friends together.

I surprised her by telling her we were going to a dinner for my company, and the she and I needed to dress up. We drove down by my office, to further throw her off.

On the way I kept "getting" texts from a friend who was at the restaurant already. I had Deb text him about 1/2 there to tell him I was driving and we were going out for a work function. That was the clue that we were almost there.

When we went around to the private room I let her go in first and she almost passed out she was so surprised.
