Daydream Believer
Do you know what the best part of daydreaming is? It allows us to “check out” of reality for a little while and visit a place that makes us smile. And smiling is good, right?
That said, what kinds of things do you daydream about? Do you picture yourself receiving an award, meeting a goal, fulfilling an accomplishment? Or do you find yourself fantasizing about your next dinner or, even better, the ultimate dessert?
I daydream all the time. And those dreamy break-from-reality moments run the gamut from a robot who can clean my house to something sinfully chocolate appearing on my plate with a big glass of milk on the side. But lately? My daydreams have had me taking a call from my editor (the one where she’ll tell me I hit the NYT Bestseller list–extended or otherwise) and standing to thunderous applause when my name is called to receive a Rita (Romance Writers of America) and/or and Agatha (Malice Domestic).
So how about you? What’s something you daydream about?

The same one I’ve been daydreaming for year, I’m a youthful retiree who is traveling across the United States and Europe and taking my mom as a gift for raising us.

Lately, I’m all about getting a job!

The beach or a thunderstorm or the beach during a thunderstorm – my white noise app has been very influential.
*blushing* Lately, I, too, daydream about winning an Agatha. I think all my author friends are inspiring me to dust off an old dream from decades ago. Back when life was simpler and there were no worries about supporting myself (or any on else), funding a college education for a child, ever-more-expensive gas, I promised my high school creative writing teacher I would dedicate my frist book to her … now I can’t even remember her name. : (

I dream of hitting the best sellers list, of being a full time writer, of taking a real vacation with no money issues during the vaca. An Agatha would be nice, but right now, it’s winning a Golden Heart in NYC next year. I can even see my (much slimmer) figure in a black gown that I paid WAY too much for, my hair up, my nails done and my friends by my side.
Studies show that the more vivid your daydreams (they call it visualization) the more apt you are to reach your goals. So I’m thinking a classic french tip on my nails….
