Run Away With Me

Getting right to Bits & Pieces this morning and theming it around an area I’ve been thinking a lot about…

1) Must-go vacation spot before you die?

2) Favorite tried-and-true vacation spot?

3) Least favorite vacation you’ve ever taken?

4) What are your top four ingredients for a successful vacation?

~Elizabeth (who is ready for a break from the cold weather)

    1) Siberia – ever since seeing Dr. Zhivago I have wanted to go there

    2) Hawes, North Yorkshire, England – our friends have a b&b in the Dales. Close enough to Scotland, France, Ireland or just a place to get lost

    3) I think every place has a redeeming something about it – something unique or beautiful. But I would have to go with Puerto Rico – we did not stay at an all-inclusive with tall gates – we traveled around. I didn’t like all the fast food places and K-Marts and vendors on the side of the Interstate. But that is not to say I would never go back. I loved the rain forest and the Baccardi tour and the festive culture.

    4) No illness, perfect balance of touring and relaxation, 60-75 degrees average temperature, coming home feeling happy & relaxed

Must go? Scotland. That’s the one I yearn to see.
    Favorite tried & true? Disney!!!!
Least favorite vacation spot: Caribbean cruise. There were many many good things, but all that never-ending water gave me the heebie-jeebies.
Top four ingredients for success: at least one person who speaks the language, moderate temperatures (Mary nailed it!), a good blend of the familiar & the new, and a queen or king size bed so I can get a good night’s sleep.

Kris, I’m SO with you on #2. I. Love. Disney!!

    Here’s mine…

1)Must-go vacation spot before you die? While this wasn’t even on my radar a year ago, I’m gonna say Paris. But I’d want it to be a very romantic trip. Trying all the little eateries and walking around at night. If it couldn’t be a romantic trip, then I’d go alone and just write (when I wasn’t eating and walking). ;)

    2) Favorite tried-and-true vacation spot? Disney!!!

    3) Least favorite vacation you’ve ever taken? I’m not sure I have one. I love to travel.

    4) What are your top four ingredients for a successful vacation? Memorable conversation, perfect temps (I’ll go as high as 80), lots of laughing, the perfect combination of activities and chilling.

    Must go: Ireland

Favorite: Destin Fl. Just very, very relaxing. Though being spoiled at Cayo Espanto in Belize was a once in a lifetime vacation

Least favorite: We visited Misquamacut RI 5 or so years ago and it was really rocky, no beach and generally not very fun. As a kid I loved going there, but the beach erosion has done it in

What makes it successful? People, warm weather, good food and no electronics!

Yes, Chris, Ireland is probably my second must-go. I’ve heard so much about Destin. Everyone who goes there seems to be a huge fan.

And I’m SO borrowing your “no electronics” as one of my key ingredients, too!! Absolute key!!!
