I’m Back

Posted under Dreamer Mondays 3 Comments

I’m back! 🙂

My family and I had some much needed and well-earned time off together and we enjoyed every single second of it, that’s for sure. We laughed, we played, and we made memories–it doesn’t get any better than that.  049b

Of course, I came back to a ton of email and a new cover sighting!  That’s right, I got my first look at the cover for Amish # 4, SUSPENDERED SENTENCE (release: March 2015).  I’m just checking to see if it’s final and then I’ll share it with all of you!

I also got back jacket copy for Sewing circle # 10, WEDDING DURESS (release: April 2015). Can’t wait for you all to read that…although we still have # 9’s release–TAKEN IN–to get through first).

I also found out today that my first newspaper editor is retiring this week. Which means I have to come up with something special to do for him and head up to my old stomping grounds to see him off (love this guy).

So that’s my catch-up. Did I miss anything while I was away?

Hi everyone!

I’m taking the week off from writing, blogging, and computer life in general.

So please come back next Monday! I’ll miss you if you don’t.

Bits O’ Bits

Posted under Bits & Pieces Fridays 3 Comments

Let’s get straight to this week’s Bits & Pieces, shall we?

1) Do you ride roller coasters? If so, what is the best one you’ve ever ridden?

2) Amusement park or water park?

3) Favorite amusement-park like treat?

4) If you could go to any theme park (amusement, water, whatever) right now, where would you go?

It’s Your Pen

I’m curious.

If you were to write a book, what kind of book would you write?

An Oldie but a Goodie

Posted under That's Life Wednesdays 3 Comments

I’m heading into the city today to spend a few hours with one of my oldest (time wise, not age wise) friends. We’ve known each other since the 4th grade. And although we didn’t get “close” until high school, it’s fun to look back at pictures of us as little kids and know that we’ve been friends that long.

They’re predicting some hot weather and potentially some rain, too, but hanging with Theresa is always fun, even if it’s only for a little while.

Do you still keep in touch with anyone from elementary school?

What Should I Choose?

Posted under Reading Tuesdays 2 Comments

I may actually get to read a book next week.

I know, that sounds pathetic, doesn’t it?  open book

But truly, it’s been way too long since I’ve had a chance to simply sit and read a book. I’m usually writing, and when I finally put that aside my eyes are done with print.

Sadly, the book I’m waiting for (the next Linda Castillo book) doesn’t come out until early July, so I’m at a loss on what to choose as my “first book in entirely too long.”

So what are you reading? Maybe I’ll be inspired to go get a copy of my own…

I thought I’d throw out some summer questions today.

1) Favorite “quiet” summer activity?

2) Favorite “active” summer activity?

3) Favorite summer dessert?

4) Favorite summer dinner?

5) Favorite summer lawn game?

Friday Bits

Posted under Bits & Pieces Fridays 7 Comments

It’s that time of week again, so let’s get to it:

1) If you could win a life time supply of anything, what would it be?

2) What was the first thing you learned to cook or bake on your own?

3) If you needed someone (outside your family) to act as a character reference for you, who would you choose?

4)  What did you do to get pocket money as a child?

5) What one sound drives you crazy?

Have a great weekend, everyone!

Up To Speed

Posted under Writing Thursdays 2 Comments

I figured I’d check in today with a writing  update–kind of a where-I’m-at-right-now kind of thing.

Sewing Circle Mysteries:

*Book 9, TAKEN IN, releases August 5th and I’m going to be asking for very specific help from everyone I know who has a Twitter account that day. If you do, stay tuned…  If not, there will be ways you can help with the release on Facebook, too.

*Book 10, WEDDING DURESS, will be out in April. The title was just finalized and I think it’s kind of cute. And, as you can guess, it’s in this installment that Tori and Milo will get married (although there is a mystery that has to be solved in the days leading up to the big day). WEDDING DURESS should be available for pre-order soon so stay tuned…

*As for whether there will be more in the series after # 10, I guess that depends largely on how # 9 does.  The series is well liked, so we should be good to go.

Amish Mysteries:

*Book 4, SUSPENDERED SENTENCE, will be out in March and it should be available for pre-order very soon. I’ll keep you posted on that. They’re working on the cover and I can’t wait to see this one.

*Book 5 (which is untitled and unwritten at this point) will be out in March of 2016. I’m working through possible plots in my head at the moment. I’ll either begin writing that at the beginning of July or the beginning of October…

My women’s fiction project:

*I’m 43,000 words in so far and it’s moving along nicely. My goal is to have it done by mid July at the latest. Then it’ll be time to edit, read, edit, read, and, hopefully send it to my agent to see if she can work her magic.

TBA Soon:

*I have a surprise to share but it will have to wait a little longer. 🙂

Have a great Thursday. I’m staring mine off in the dentist chair (joy!) and then meeting a friend for lunch.

Happy Dancing

Posted under That's Life Wednesdays 8 Comments

I don’t know about you, but certain things just make me happy. And happy things make life so much nicer, don’t they?

Here’s a list of things that make me happy:  dancing snoopy

1) Seeing a picture of Snoopy dancing. It makes me instantly think of an old friend from college who had her own version of the Snoopy dance. Even now, while I’m writing this, I’m smiling thinking about it.

2) Disney World. Some of my favorite memories with my kids were born at Disney (one example: my youngest discovered her shadow there, right by the Dumbo ride…I think of that moment and her little face every time I walk over that spot.)

3) Getting my toe nails done (my daughter just did a great job).

4) The Disney (yes, you see a trend) color changing umbrella my daughters gave me for my birthday a few years ago. That thing instantly makes a rainy day brighter.

5) Flowers and a hug from my guy.

hobbes3 6) A date where you talk all evening…never running out of things to say.

7) The memory of my beloved cat, Hobbes’ purr. She was the best purr-er ever.

8) Ben & Jerry’s Phish Food.

9) A Belgian waffle (with fresh fruit on it) and a Belgian Hot Chocolate from Le Pain Quotidien on West 72nd in NYC.

10) Music. It makes me happy when I’m alone in the car, and it makes me happy when my cousin is playing the guitar in our living room and I see our kids singing along…knowing the lyrics to songs from the 70’s and 80’s (we’ve taught them well).

That’s just a partial list, but it’s a good one.

Now tell me some of yours.
