Back in the Flow?

Posted under Writing Thursdays No Comments

So I read and edited what I have of Sewing Circle 12 so far yesterday. I don’t usually do that in the middle of the writing process, but this time is different for some reason. Some of that may be because of the busyness of the past few week–launch travel for Éclair and Present Danger, and first round edits for Death In Advertising–the 1st book in my Tobi Tobias Mystery series (which will be out in February).

Sometimes, when you have to break stride and focus on something else (or two somethings), it’s hard to get back into the flow.  Reading and editing what I have so far seemed the best way to help that along.

Today, I bullet-point the remaining 8 or so chapters of the book and then get back to forward writing on Friday (just in time to take off for the long weekend–ugh).

Any questions?

When In Is Way Bigger Than Out

This is a bit like how I feel today. workingI’ll be back tomorrow.  When that pile is a wee bit shorter.

In Your Hands

Posted under Reading Tuesdays 3 Comments

I’m working in the waiting room of the car dealership today, as I need an oil change, tire rotation, yada, yada…

But it’s been a while since I’ve asked you what you’re reading. Me? I just started DARKEST FEAR (the 7th book in the Myron Bolitar series by Harlan Coben). I read in the mornings while on the elliptical (two birds, you know?).

So, what are you reading?  What drew you to it?

Three Things

Posted under Dreamer Mondays 3 Comments

It’s Monday. Again. And the weekend went fast, as it always does.

Three things from my weekend:

  1. It is getting mighty hot outside.  And it’s only June.
  2. I saw a dinner show on Friday (Happy Days) and a concert on Saturday (Michael McDonald).
  3. I beat DD #2 in Sequence (3 to 2). 🙂

How about your weekend?

Have a great weekend!

School’s Out…

Posted under Writing Thursdays No Comments

If all goes well, I’ll finish up developmental edits on what will be the first book in another series (I know, I know). I actually wrote this book ten years ago and always thought it was fun.   A few months ago, I sent it off to an editor who agreed.

Once I send those off to her, it’s back to writing Sewing Circle # 12. Come Monday, anyway. 🙂

In the meantime, would someone like to try their hand at the following writing prompt?

Pretend you’re a young kid again and you’re teacher has just dismissed you from the last day of school.  Put us in your head as the final bell rings and summer begins…

Think Carefully

The world will allow only ONE musical group/band and that’s it.

Who do you choose?

Tough one, I know.

Summer Talk…But There

Today, I’m going to send you HERE.

Once there, you’ll find out what I miss about summertime when the kids were younger…

Feel free to come back  here to comment though.

Three Things

I thought I’d share three good things from my weekend in the hopes you’ll share three good things about your weekend.

So here goes:

We saw Finding Dory
(I’m happy to report the sea lions were not bad guys–phew!)

We went on a hike that provided this beautiful view…

And DD # 2 made this peanut butter cup pie…
(and yes, it was as good as it looks)

Late, But Bits Nonetheless

Posted under Bits & Pieces Fridays 6 Comments

Although my  great uncle’s wake and funeral mass were on Tuesday, the graveside ceremony for the burial of his ashes was this morning. The local VFW did a ceremony (with a bugle and gun salute) to honor this WWII veteran.  So that’s where I was this morning.

But I owe you all bits, so here goes…

  1. What’s your favorite patriotic song?
  2. Is there a tradition, specific to America, that gets you misty-eyed?
  3. One plan for this weekend?

Happy Father’s Day, Chris! And Happy Father’s Day to all the fathers attached to the folks who either comment or simply lurk here on this blog.
