Three Things–Spring Break Edition

So it’s been a pretty busy weekend, with a few options for my three things.

On Friday night I got to pick DD # 2 up at school and bring her home (spring break). So that’s most definitely one of my “three.”

springbreakSaturday was about writing, getting some groceries back in the fridge and freezer after the forced power outage clean-out.

And on Sunday, DD # 2 and I headed into the city via the train (photo of Hudson River from our train seat) for a little spring break fun which included a trip to the Central Park Zoo (yup, saw my favorite sea lion, Charlotte). We’ll head back home on Tuesday.

Now tell us three things from your weekend.

    1. 20,000+ steps hiking in Tallulah Gorge with the boy scouts. 600+ steps down a stairway to the bottom of the gorge, then 700+ back up the other side. Beautiful views. It had rained the night before so they didn’t give out passes to actually go bouldering in the floor like we’d planned.

    2. 3+ hours of rain on Saturday. 1 tent got washed out/flooded, but the boys were able to get their gear out and dried in the van (yeah heaters!) before they went to bed. We did have a spare tent so they were dry.

    3. lots of laundry, aired out tents, sleeping bags and jackets later, slept like a log last night.

Oh and DST needs to be cancelled. What a waste of productivity today.

The hike sounds awesome (although tiring), Chris. Sorry about the rain! Though I’m sure the rain aspect will be remembered by those boys for years to come, too!

What a lovely weekend Laura! Hope the weather is better for you.
I wish I was in shape to do a hike like that! Sounds fun! Hope y’all had fun eve though it rained. 🙂
    1. I went to my first ever quilt show!!! Woohoo!! It was fantastic! Quilters are artists too. Those quilts were just amazing. I could have stood in front of them all day.
    2. I volunteered at the library. It was so nice and peaceful.
    3. I have recorded a lot of episodes of Psych. So I watched a few of them. I love the eighties references. I also watched this great romantic comedy called Pillow Talk. It stars Doris Day and Rock Hudson. What a fun movie!!

It sounds like you had a wonderful weekend Laura! So happy you and your DD are enjoying some time together. Wow Chris sounds like an adventure. And Andrea, I have seen some quilts that are just amazing pieces of art. I bet you had a great time.
    1. Went through what acts as a closet for my clothes (2/3s got done). Found a lot of clothes I did not know I had, did not know would fit and others that I thought were gone. I now have an abundance of comfy clothes. I also have almost 2 huge bags of clothes (some brand new) to donate to the Native American Reservation my sisnlaw sends stuff to.
    2. The weekend had perfect weather for quite a while, so Tyler, the big dogs and I spent a lot of time outside. The birds were enjoying the feeder station along with the squirrels, the trees and shrubs are all green(ish) and blooms are out everywhere. Even the locust trees are in bloom. The poor saucer magnolias got a bit frost bit, but most still look wonderful
    3. Spent some relaxing time, enjoying laughs and some tv with Mom. We get to do this every day and every day it is a blessing!
Hope everyone has a wonderful week!
