Three Wishes
Think for a minute (no knee-jerks here, okay?)…
You get three wishes.
What are they?

A Look At The Future
I’m sure you’ve heard of these new do-it-yourself home kits that can tell you what diseases you might contract in the future. Now, while it’s an interesting concept, I’m not sure I’d want to know. Not unless knowing would enable me to prevent it.
Which brings me to today’s DREAMER MONDAY question about the kinds of things a person might like to know about their future if they could…
If you could learn one thing about your future, what would you want to know and why?

Postcards from the Wild
As most of you know, I’ve wanted to be a writer since I was ten years old. But that was just one part of a two-part dream. The second part was having people read my stuff…
People in libraries. People in bookstores. People in parks. People on trains. People lounging on their couches on cold winter days. And people I didn’t know.
Which is why I think posting a few pictures of my readers is a perfect fit for this week’s “Dreamer Monday.”
First, here’s Shel and Sinatra from Dixon, Illinois. As you can see, Shel is snuggled up in her favorite reading spot with DEATH THREADS on Kindle, proving–beyond a shadow of a doubt–that one can, indeed, get just as cozy with a Kindle as a physical book! Thanks, Shel!!
Next up is Bunny Giordano of Ashburn, Virginia.
Bunny took her copy of DEATH THREADS to work with her to read on her lunch hour!!! From what I can tell by the picture, she’s about halfway through the book here and that’s just about the time when… Wait. I can’t tell you that. It’s a surprise.
And then there’s Michele in Milford, New Hamshire who was nearing
the end of DEATH THREADS when her husband snapped this photo. She says this is her reading corner of the couch and that “everyone knows its my spot.” I love this picture, Michele! Thank you!!
So there you have it. Pictorial proof of part two of my childhood dream.
Michele, Bunny, and Shel all have a surprise heading their way in the mail for sharing their “Reading DEATH THREADS” photos with me. Want to share a photo, too? Send your “Reading DEATH THREADS” photo (along with your name and city/state) to me at: ElizabethLCasey@aol.com. I’ll post them here on the blog and you’ll get a surprise in the mail for making my day!
Deal?

A Day for the Memory Books
As you’re reading today’s blog, I’m in NYC with my youngest daughter enjoying some special mom and me time. We’ll be lunching at the American Girl Place, shopping, walking around Central Park, and haunting any and all bookstores we pass along the way.
We’ve been looking forward to today for a long time and now that it’s here, I hope it doesn’t go too fast.
In honor of our special day, I figured I’d theme today’s “Dreamer Monday” in kind.
So here goes…
If you had a whole day to just you and your child, what would you do? If you have more than one kid, tell me what you’d do with each one individually. If you don’t have any children, tell me who you’d like to spend the day with and what would you do?

What Would YOU Do?
I’ve got a fun Dreamer Monday for you today…
You’re at work (whether in an office or at home) and a note slips across your desk. Take the day off, it says. No arguments, just go.
What would you do/where would you go?

Starring…You
If you could pop yourself into one scene from any movie, what scene/movie/character would it be and why?
Me? I think I’d pick that scene in Pretty Woman where Richard Gere’s character takes Julia Robert’s character on an actual date. He doesn’t give her any details about where they’re going/what they’re doing except to tell her to get dressed up. Then he whisks her away on a plane and takes her to her very first opera. So, so romantic.
Your turn.

Turning Back the Hands of Time
If you could turn back the hands of time ine just one area (meaning pre-cell phone, pre-computer, pre-whatever), what would you choose and why?
Me? I think I’d pick the longer childhood that seemed to be the case twenty years ago. I’ve always thought this, but had it hit home over the weekend while attending the Southern Kentucky Book Fest. Little girls (and by little, I mean 8 and 9, not 2 and 3) got dressed up to see their favorite authors (frilly dresses, patent leather party shoes, curls in their hair, etc). And two young ladies I saw going off to prom on Saturday night looked like young ladies–classy, pretty, respectable.
Both of these instances stood out to me for the rarity they’ve become. It seems as if the frilly dresses stop by the time a little girl is four these days, traded in soon after for miniature versions of what the teenage starlets are wearing (with the starlet being a good 10-12 years older than they are). And teenagers going off to prom? Slinky seems to be the wardrobe of choice for many these days.
I know I’m old fashioned in many ways. Always have been. But really, we’re not doing kids a favor by rushing their childhood. They’ve got more than enough time to be grown-ups.
Your turn.

Land, Sea, or Air? What Would You Choose?
I posed this question to the family recently and got some really cool answers (they’re my guinea pigs for Dreamer Monday blogs).
If you could be an animal, what would you choose and why?
Me? I have two. And, interestingly enough, they’re both water animals (perhaps that’s why I love the beach/ocean so much).
First, a sea lion. Though my sea lion would be at the zoo…with a really cool trainer. It would be fun to make all those kids happy though, I’m not so sure I’d be crazy about eating fish…
Second, a dolphin. They look like such fun, happy animals. I’d love swimming in the
wake of a power boat and having that kind of freedom. I think my preferred habitat would be in an inlet where I don’t have to worry too much about sharks and I can just chase boats all day.
Your turn.

Daydream Believer…
I’ll admit, I’ve been daydreaming a lot lately. Mostly because an end is finally in sight as far as deadlines are concerned (Sewing Circle # 4 officially went off to my editor today–woohoo!…which means romance # 3 revisions are all that’s left over the next two weeks).
Today’s dream? To get some sleep.
Tomorrow’s dream? Go for a looooonnnggg walk and finally get to enjoy this weather that’s been mocking me while I typed…and edited…and typed some more.
After-my-revisions-are-turned-in dream? A trip to Tennessee/Kentucky for the Southern Kentucky Book Festival. In my suitcases? A book…that’s been written by someone else. That I’ll actually have time to read. Ahhhh…
So how about you? What have you been daydreaming about lately?
